CO-ED DEVELOPMENT/RECREATIONAL STREAM

 Novice (co-ed)

The co-ed Novice program is an introduction to baseball for 4–5-year-olds. We use safety equipment such as foam rubber bats, whiffle balls etc. and the program is designed for participants to have fun while learning to love the game.

  • Parents are encouraged to come out on the field to help with various skill sessions.
  • Player Birth Year: 2019-2020
  • Registration Cost: $175.00
  • Equipment needed: Baseball glove.
  • Schedule: Sessions are once a week from early June to the end of August and are Sundays from 4:00 - 5:00. The program has been run at WJCC Small field but may be moved to the Georges P Vanier field this year.

Rally Cap (co-ed)

This is a skills program designed to teach 6-7-year-olds the 5 FUNdamentals of baseball (fundamental movement skills, throwing, receiving, hitting, base running) in an outdoor fun setting knowing that the most fun for kids at this age is in hitting the ball. We begin with safety gear (rubber bats/whiffle bats) and by the end of the year graduate to real bats and normal "gym" balls. They play simulated one or two inning games most weeks at the end of sessions.

  • If possible, at least one parent should come out on the field to help during practices.
  • Player Birth Year: 2017-2018
  • Registration Cost: $175
  • Equipment needed: Baseball glove. We supply all bats and balls plus players get uniform jerseys and Toronto Blue Jays ball caps.
  • Schedule: Sessions are once a week from 6:15-7:30 p.m. at the Georges P. Vanier Jr. High school field starting in early June till end of August.

U9 Rookie (co-ed)

At the U9 level, recreational baseball focuses on skill development for players ages 8-9, although some slightly younger or older may join if it’s more suitable for them, based on consultation with the program director. Games at the beginning of season are played with a pitching machine and gradually switch to kids/coach pitching using "gym" balls. Competitive games are introduced against other U9 teams in the LWF league.

  • Player Birth Year: 2015-2016
  • Registration Cost: $200
  • Equipment needed: Baseball glove, batting helmet, protective cup. We provide uniform, hats, gear bags with balls and bat.
  • Schedule: Team selections are mid-May with practices beginning late May & seasons run until early September. Teams average two games and one practice a week.
  • Game Locations: Games are with other LWF 9U teams at WJCC, Waverley Legion & Grand Lake fields.
  • Start Times: 6pm, possible afternoon games on Sundays.

U11 (co-ed)

At the U11 level, baseball introduces base stealing without “leading off” and pitching responsibilities, offering competitive play against other LWF teams, as well as teams from the Lower Sackville, and East Hants.

  • Player Birth Year: 2013-2014
  • Registration Cost: $275.00
  • Equipment needed: Baseball glove, bat, baseball helmet, cleats, protective cup.
  • Schedule: Season starts mid-May, practices begin late May, and the season opens early June.
  • Game Locations: Dan Franklin Memorial Field (WJCC), Waverley Legion, Grand Lake, and away games in Lower Sackville and Enfield. 3 games every two weeks, 1 practice a week.
  • Start Times: usually 6pm (occasionally 8:30pm), possible afternoon games on Sundays.

U13 (co-ed)

At the U13 level, players experience the entirety of baseball rules, including leading off and balks, engaging in competitive play against other LWF teams, as well as teams from Lower Sackville.

  • Schedule: Season starts mid-May, practices begin late May, and the season opens early June.

For players aged 14 to 15, the U15 program encompasses the complete set of baseball rules and regulations, providing both competitive play against other LWF teams, as well as teams from Lower Sackville, Bedford, and Hammonds Plains.

U18 (co-ed)

Offering a high-level baseball experience for players, the U18 program enforces all rules, providing competitive opportunities against other LWF teams, as well as teams from Lower Sackville, Bedford, and Hammonds Plains.

  • Registration Cost: $300
  • Equipment needed: Baseball glove, bat, baseball helmet, cleats, protective cup.
  • Schedule: Season starts mid-May, practices begin late May, and the season opens early June.
  • Game Locations: Waverley Sports Park, Sackville Les Mayo (Payzants) and Weir field.

U24 (co-ed)

Description: For players too old for the U18 team and too young (or competitive) for other leagues, U24 provides an opportunity for competitive play against Lower Sackville and Hammonds Plains.

CO-ED COMPETITIVE STREAM

11U, 13U, 15U and 18U Tri-County (co-ed)

Tri-County is our rep baseball division, offering competitive play with our community partners Bedford and Lower Sackville at the A, AA, and AAA levels. Players U11 and up form co-ed teams that compete throughout the province in the provincial Bluenose League.

  • Player Birth Year: Born 2014+
  • Tryout Registration Deadline Date: March 27, 2024
  • Tryout Cost: $75
  • Registration Cost: Same as the recreational age level
  • Equipment needed: Baseball glove, bat, baseball helmet, cleats, protective cup.

 

GIRLS AT BAT STREAM

U10, U12, U14, and U18 Girls at Bat Rec Team

Girls at Bat offers a dynamic platform to expose girls to coach and machine pitch, baseball, slo-pitch and fastpitch, fostering skill development and a love for the game.  Opportunities for advanced programming will be available based on volunteer and registration response or through community partnership.

  • Player Birth Year: 2004-2016
  • Registration Cost: $50
  • Equipment needed: Baseball glove, bat, baseball helmet, cleats, (optional) protective cup.
  • Schedule: Indoor training sessions at the Sackville Sports Stadium Field House beginning in May will set the foundation for development and recruitment. This process transition outdoors until July when we aim to transition eligible age groups of girls to slo-pitch games.
  • Game Locations Contemplated: Grand Lake, Waverley, Windsor Junction, Bedford, Eddie Leblanc, Caudle Park Elementary, Ecole du Grand-Portage, Beaver Bank Kinsac, and Patton Rd.
  • Start Times: 6pm weekdays, weekend tournaments.

 

12U, 14U and 17U Tri-County Girls Team

Tri-County is our rep baseball division. The intention is to have a team providing competitive play exclusively for girls within Nova Scotia. Players U12 and up form teams that compete throughout the HRM and provincially in the provincial Bluenose League.
