Message from Baseball Nova Scotia
Good afternoon club presidents/contacts,
Please see below a number of pre-season notes and reminders. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to reach out!
- Changes to NCCP Requirements and Courses
NCCP Clinics are now being posted (here)! Please reach out to your coach group as early as possible to have them sign up for any courses they may require to ensure they meet all requirements.
In aligning with recent changes made by Baseball Canada and the CAC to certain NCCP modules, we have made some adjustments to our coaching requirements. Changes are as follows:
- The ‘Teaching & Learning’ module has been removed entirely
- The content of the ‘Planning’ module has changed and therefore is now only required for 15U AAA, 18U AAA, and 22U AAA (reflected on the requirements page on our site)
- Note that the name of the in-person Initiation to Baseball module has changed to Fundamentals of Coaching Baseball (it is the same course, only the name has changed – credit for the course will still show in coaches’ NCCP accounts)
We will continue running the multi-module clinics as we have the past several years, although now adjusted for the changes. With the way the NCCP site is set-up we are not able to reflect this multi-module clinic set-up. We ask that you please inform your coaches that when they go to sign up for a clinic in the NCCP site:
- ‘Fundamentals of Coaching Baseball’ clinic will include and give credit for ‘Fundamentals of Coaching Baseball’ and ‘Pitching and Catching’ modules
- ‘Absolutes’ clinic will only include ‘Absolutes’ module (no longer Absolute and Planning)
- ‘Planning’ clinic will be ran similarly to how we run ‘Skills’ and ‘Strategies’ clinics – online via Zoom, once or twice a season for those few coaching divisions that require it
Please remind your coaches that both online modules (Initiation to Sport and Initiation to Baseball) must be completed before they are able to sign-up and attend their in-person modules.

3. AGM Reminder
Reminder that our AGM is April 26th, 1PM at the Best Western in Dartmouth – hope to see you there!
4. Dropbox for Picture Upload
New this year: we have created a Dropbox folder to trial this season. The purpose is to have a location where associations can submit pictures directly to us throughout the season for us to share out and use in social media and website posts. 5. BNS YouTube Channel
Check out our new BNS Youtube channel! We will soon begin posting short-medium length videos around certain topics that we tend to get questions about, or that may be useful to new coaches/members/associations, such as NCCP, Bluenose League, and more.
6. Provincial Team Tryouts
Tryout sessions for the 13U, 17U, and 19U/Senior Women’s provincial teams are coming up in the next few weeks, so please be sure to share with your athletes! All registrations are available via links on the front page of our website.
